Student Nurse Extern - Nursing
I. Position Summary: The Student Nurse Extern is responsible for assisting in the delivery of both direct and indirect patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. They also provide quality care to patients as specified in the individualized care plan and assignments, according to the hospitals’ policies, procedures, and objectives. To provide a safe and clean environment for all patients. Under the supervision of an RN, the extern provides assistance with the activities of daily living, physical comfort, and emotional and social support to ensure a holistic approach to patient care. All staff and students behaves in a professional manner that is consistent with the mission of Claiborne County Medical Center.
II. Position Purpose:
• To give the Student Nurse Extern an opportunity to experience a realistic working environment as a nurse.
• To give the Student Nurse Extern an opportunity to gain experience in an employment situation in a healthcare setting.
• To provide insight into the practice of professional nursing.
II. Position Requirements:
A. Education: Completion of basic nursing skills course at an accredited nursing program. Student Nurse Extern must be in good standing of a nationally accredited nursing program with completion of first semester of acute care clinical course. Additional Information Shift : Day Contact Information
